People who get a tattoo at a young age may not want to sport it any longer either due to their work or personal issues.   • Scarring: Removing of the tattoo can sometimes leave a permanent mark on the skin due to the damage caused to the skin during the procedure. Scarring can be caused due to the original inking procedure as well as due to the removal methods. The formed scar can sometimes be the faded image of the design itself and this occurs when the ink of the tattoo cannot be removed completely. Dermabrasion is a method used for removing the tattoo and can leave scars on the skin.
  • Blistering: Both burning and blistering are considered as the potential side effects that occurs due to removing of the tattoos using lasers. This condition may not generally be visible after 5 to 6 months or even less.
  • Infections: A person may not suffer from infections most of the time while getting the tattoos removed. An antibiotic salve can be applied on the area depending on the procedure used for removing the tattoos. This salve helps in lowering the risk of infection.
  • Pigmentation Loss: The skin around the tattoo can get affected due to any procedures used for tattoo removal. It may sometimes turn the skin around the tattooed area lighter as well. However, this may not be for a longer period of time.
  • Swelling: A person may experience swelling immediately after the removal procedure and it may last for a few days. You can apply ice or cold pack on the affected area as it provides great relief.
  • Scabbing: This usually occurs in case of an injury and it can also be seen after the removal procedure. Scabbing may not cause any kind of permanent damage and may only last for about two weeks.
