Yantra tattoo also known as magical tattoo or Sak Yant in local language, is a tattooing art which is considered to be sacred. It is practiced in Thailand, Cambodia and Loas. Yantra tattoo practice is dated back to Angkor times and is very famous for it magical powers. People who get the tattoo done are said to gain magical powers and become more powerful than normal human being.
Most of the warriors and kings used to get this tattoo done. There are some rules and norms which the person getting a yantra tattoo has to follow. This article gives a brief description of what the rules were. Without the following of the rules, the tattoo is powerless.
Rules to follow for Yantra Tattoo
The rules which were implied on the person getting the tattoo done and the tattoo artist are:
- The tattoo artist and the person getting the yantra tattoo done are supposed to maintain a life long relation of master and disciple.
- The master who uses the symbols are copied from his masters and are selected as per the disciples personality. These symbols are imbued with magical powers once they are done.
- There are many advantages like the person cannot get any physical harm provided he follows certain conditions. The disciple shouldn’t talk top anyone for three days and three nights. This will give him self protection and make him strong.
- Two important aspects are involved in tattooing the yantra tattoo. One is the yoan( yantra) or the geometric pattern of the tattoo. The second is muon(the vedic chants). Both are combined together to get the yantra tattoo.
- Once the tattoo is finished, the tattoo has to be declared that it is sacred. Both the master and the disciple have to light 5 candles and 5 incense sticks. They represent the 5 incarnations of Buddha.
- The rules to be followed after the tattoo is done is, the person shouldn’t show pride or arrogance, he shouldn’t steal from others, should not eat dog meat. And he shouldn’t walk under houses(Cambodian houses are on stilts).
If any of the above rules are broken, then the magical powers of the tattoo are lost and there are chances for the person to go mad.
